The Bartender is an NPC and playable character. They are unlocked by drinking 10 alcoholic beverages (Whiskey, Beer and Cocktails) in one game.
NPC[ | ]
The Bartender NPC can be found in bars and casinos. On the enlarged map, they are marked by a cocktail. When they spawn in bars, they may have a Shotgun and/or one or more Goons guarding them. Upon Interacting, players have the option to "Buy a Round" to befriend all neutral/annoyed guests and Goons in the building - not including the Bartender - at a cost of 10 Money per individual befriended.
On Park floors, Bartenders spawn outdoors next to stands without Goons, but often with a Shotgun.
Bartenders are replaced with Clerks in Uptown and beyond, as the prohibition of alcohol is enforced on these floors.

- How to fight:
- The Bartender has decent stats, including a high Firearms skill, but also has some "social weapons" such as the Haterator, Hypnotizer Mark II, and their traits - Serve Drinks, Charismatic, and Team Building Expert. Use them to create riots or bypass security.
- Haterator : Use it on powerful people such as Goons, or in public to alert cops. Stay out of sight when using it, as victims attack the first character they see.
- Hypnotizer Mark II : A great way to finish Neutralize and Retrieve Item from Person missions as Aligned NPCs have a 100% chance to leave when asked, potentially giving Bonus Exp.
- Serve Drinks: Use to create poisoned cocktails from syringes, than serve them to someone to cause status effects. The effect appears 5 seconds after giving the cocktail. Negative Effects will turn NPCs hostile and Positive Effects improve NPC relationships by one rank (e.g. Neutral NPCs become Friendly, Friendly NPCs become Loyal, Loyal NPCs become Aligned). Some effects neither make the NPCs Hostile nor improve relationships, such as Electro Touch and Giant.

- TIps to finish missions:
- Charismatic causes nearly all NPCs to be friendly which has numerous benefits:
- Merchants sell items with a 10% discount.
- Bouncers don't require bribes to enter buildings.
- NPCs are not annoyed when you enter their homes, but still become hostile if they see you stealing.
- Use this ability to enter into a house and steal the contents of the Refrigerator while out of sight.
- Mobster and Thief NPCs will not mug you or steal from you, and Vampire NPCs will not bite you, but Cop Bots are immune to your charm and will still try to deport you or confiscate your contraband.
- If an NPC is accidentally made hostile, use Hypnotizer Mark II to gain back their trust.
- Charismatic causes nearly all NPCs to be friendly which has numerous benefits:
- NPCs who start out Neutral to you (generally those guarding hideouts) will turn Friendly if you serve them a Beer or Whiskey. An easy way to complete missions is to knock on the door, give the guard a drink, and then enter with impunity. With careful timing of your knocks this can be repeated for multiple guards. Just be aware that if a non-friendly guard sees you trespassing, the friendly ones will also turn hostile.
- In the event NPCs are too far off to be made friendly with drinks, Cigarettes can be used to force inhabitants out into the open.
- It's recommended to buy lots of Beer and Cigarettes early as they're the cheapest option to complete the big quest.
NPC[ | ]
- While they possess high stats of 3 Firearms and 3 Endurance, bartenders are generally not that intimidating when unarmed and alone; they are dangerous when armed with Shotguns or with Goons, however.
- Bartenders are a great source of electability due to the option to "Buy a Round" inside of bars, casinos and clubs. Businesses with more patrons and Goons will give more electability, but are more expensive to buy rounds for.
- Rounds can't be bought from bartenders alone or in the Park as they have no patrons.
- Bartenders are a good source of drinks, which further increase electability when given to Bouncers and Office Drones; they can also be used for healing.
