Backstory
"The Bouncer has finally hit pay dirt, having been hired by a major record label to escort one of their biggest stars to Mayor Village. Unfortunately, the pair have gotten off on the wrong foot, following a heated argument about whether nu-metal is dead or just hibernating. This resulted in the Bouncer picking up a cookie and threatening to do something very vulgar with it "BizKit style". Will these two mismatched partners ever see eye to eye?"

The Bouncer is an NPC and playable character. On April 29th 2020, the Bouncer was released as a playable character alongside five other characters as part of the Character Pack DLC. They wear a purple suit with a black tie and are heavier than other characters.

NPC[ | ]

Bouncers will often spawn with a melee weapon such as a Baseball Bat and, in later stages, Sledgehammers.

They are always protecting a No Entry Door or a Blue Laser. If you try to enter these buildings without bribing them, they'll instantly attack you and alert the owner. You can bribe them with Beer, Whiskey, Money or items. Once bribed, you can enter their building without being attacked.

Some Bouncers will refuse to let in Suspicious, Malodorous and Wanted characters or even be bribed by them in some establishments such as Dance Clubs and Music Halls.

Tips and Strategies[ | ]

Playable[ | ]

  • How to fight: The Bouncer has very good stats and traits such as Tank-Like and Kneecapper, making them pretty good at fights. Since you have a good Firearms stat, you might want to get a ranged weapon such as a Pistol or a Machinegun. Don't be afraid to use Stomp to start fights and to stun dangerous opponents or large groups of enemies.
  • How to finish missions: Since you must protect a Musician and following their demands can cause you get sidetracked, missions can be tricky and will often be solved violently simply because it's the fastest way to complete them. Stealth is harder since you cannot order the Musician or the Fans to "Stand Guard". You must learn to have a sense of when the musician will make a demand and try to avoid having demands and missions overlap.
  • You can donate blood to the Musician even if you have less than 10 HP.
  • To help the Musician survive, it is recommended to equip him with armor and an effective ranged weapon that can knock back hostile characters, such as a Shotgun or a Revolver.
  • If you plan on getting into trouble, be sure to give the Musician an Electro Pill so he can defend himself without relying on his low stats.
  • If a level is too dangerous to keep the Musician alive, leave him dead, that way you won't have to deal with keeping him alive over and over again.
  • Recommended traits: Modern Warfarer and Un-Crits will increase your survival rate. Infectious Spirit or Share the Health are great for keeping the Musician alive.
    • G-P-Yesss and Teleport-Happy are almost mandatory to help you manage the Musician and their fans, especially Teleport-Happy which allows you to teleport in almost any circumstances; this is particularly useful in Disaster Levels or if the Musician gets stuck indoors.
    • Loneliness Killer is also valuable for the bouncer since you'll get a second Bouncer protecting the musician with the same durability and strength.
    • Disturbing Facial Expressions can be a terrible starting trait for the Bouncer if you want to get item drops from your enemies. Swap it out with a Augmentation Booth.
    • It's not a bad idea to increase your Speed by getting a Speed+ Attribute Trait through level up, especially for scouting or finding a Vendor or a Toilet for the Musician's Demand on the floor.
  • The Fans of the Musician are a double-edged sword and can attack you or the Musician if you do something they don't like. However, some fans can be very useful; Hackers can hack objects for you, Slum Dwellers can cause distractions, and Thieves can break open Windows and unlock Doors for you.
  • After the Musician demands to be taken to a Shopkeeper, Bartender or a Drug Dealer, the Musician will give you items that they normally sell or drop. If they visit an ATM, the Musician will give you some money as well.

NPC[ | ]

  • NPCs Bouncers are tanky and strong in fights. Avoid getting into a fight whenever possible; fortunately, almost all Bouncer fights can be avoided with a bribe. Remember that the Bouncer will still protect the establishment's owner even if bribed, so try to maintain discretion when entering the building.
  • Thanks to Charismatic, the Bartender doesn't need to bribe them.
    • The same effect can be achieved on a single floor with Cologne. Making Bouncers friendly has the same effect as bribing them; of course, the Cologne also effects the establishment owners.
  • Avoid getting hit by a Bouncer; any hit from them can inflict Slow on you for 20 seconds due to their Kneecapper trait (Including beatings by guns). This makes it dangerous and annoying to fight them. It's better to keep a distance from them if you're planning to fight them.
  • NPC Bouncers can be one of the best sources of Electability if they are guarding a building with several owners. Bribing the Bouncer makes everyone aligned with them Friendly, so you may be able to pick up enormous amounts of Electability for the price of a single beer.

  • The Bouncer wore a black suit rather than a plum suit in early development builds of the game.
