Hacking is a mechanic in Streets of Rogue. It allows you to connect to certain objects and affect them in certain ways. Hacking is most often used for strategies that involve stealth and less hand-to-hand combat. The Hacker is a character who is designed around hacking. Characters that have the trait Tech Expert will also gain additional options to choose from when hacking. It can only be done with the Laptop ability or a Hacking Tool. If you have the Cyber Nuke ability, you can blow up most of these objects.

Tips and Strategies[edit | edit source]
- Though hacking is never a waste of your time, it is far less useful when you don't have Tech Expert.
- With both a hacked Sell-O-Matic and a hacked Goodie Dispenser, the value of what you get will usually exceed the 45 coins it costs; therefore, you can benefit from buying as much as possible from a hacked one and selling anything you don't need.
- Because you can easily get reduced prices at Goodie Dispensers and Ammo Dispensers, you should generally try to spend your money there (where you get more bang for your buck) than at Shopkeepers, Drug Dealers, and so on.
