Backstory
"Has devoted their life to advancing science and torturing gorillas. As a result of the former, the Scientist has acquired a number of fun toys to take on their adventure. While they would probably prefer to be testing these toys on caged gorillas in the name of scientific progress (read: undiagnosed sadism), the Scientist has joined the Resistance due to the Mayor cutting beaker allowances to 1 per laboratory."

The Scientist is a both an NPC and playable character in Streets of Rogue. They wear a lab coat with two orange buttons on it.

The Scientist is unlocked by polluting 5 Air Filtration Systems.

NPC

Scientists can most often be found in Labs and Greenhouses, typically in groups of 3-4. Also within labs is at least 1 caged Gorilla or sometimes a Zombie. Greenhouses will always have Killer Plants inside. The scientists will usually be annoyed when you enter, asking you to leave. They are either not armed or have Knives.

If a scientist is talked to, you can pay $20 to identify an unknown drug (Syringe). However Scientists are Hostile to any Gorilla or characters with the Scientist Slayer Trait.

Quotes

  • "You don't need brains to be a scientist just heart!"
  • "My current hypothesis: Gorillas hate being poked with a ruler."
  • "My one rule when conducting experiments. Keep it fun!"
  • "Safety procedures are for wimps! That ain't real science!"
  • "What's the scientific method? I always get the steps mixed up."
  • "Please use that info for good and not evil, thaaaanks!" (After identifying a Syringe)

Tips and Strategies

  • How to fight: The Scientist has overall poor stats, but makes up for it with lots of gadgets and traits. Your starting items will help you a lot if you have to fight. You should favor guns over melee but avoid combat if you can help it.
  • How to finish a mission: Make sure to utilize your gadgets in the best possible situations. Use the Tech Expert trait to try and disable security, and use the Water Pistol combined with a negative status effect when you want to be stealthy, use the Freeze Ray when you are caught, and use the Shrink Ray to get out of bad situations. Rage Poisons are very good for polluting air filtration systems, and Giantizers should be used when you just want to just kill for your situation or if you want to enter a building without being stealthy.
  • The Ghost Gibber is useful around graveyards, as it kills supernatural creatures such as Ghosts. Breaking the tombstones nets a modest amount of money. The Gibber can also be used in water to shock regular opponents.
  • A good combination is to freeze someone and then shrink them, because you can crush them without them running away.
  • How to get past locked doors: knock while holding your Freeze Ray, so that when the owner opens the door , you can shoot them and freely walk past them.
