NPC Alignment describes the opinion that every character in the game has towards you, the player. Opinion can be seen when hovering the mouse over an NPC. Most NPCs, by default, won't have any sort of Alignment towards the player.
Types of NPC Alignment
Listed below are the 6 different types of Alignment that NPCs can have, 2 aggressive 4 peacful. Each have unique properties on how NPCs will react with each other and the player.
Peaceful Alignments
Friendly
Friendly describes when an NPC has mild affection towards you.
Affects:
NPCs will allow you into their homes without problems, however stealing from said NPCs will cause them to attack you.

- Bribing a Bouncer will cause him and everyone in the building he's protecting to be friendly
- Setting a Slave free

Loyal
Loyal describes when an NPC will fight for you, but won't follow you around unless they were hired.
Affects:
NPCs will wonder around doing their own thing however if they see anyone that is hostile towards you, or see you being attacked, they will fight for you. You can also enter their houses whenever you want and take their stuff as well as hiring and buying things off people for 80% of the normal price.

Traits
Aligned
Aligned is when people have the highest possible affection towards you .
Affects:
NPCs will either follow you around and fight for you or act as if they were Loyal, wandering around and only attacking people whom are hostile towards the player. They do, however, also provide a 30% discount when buying or hiring from people and will allow you to enter off limits buildings as long as at least one person inside is aligned with you.

Submissive
Submissive is similar to Aligned though can be achieved through the use of Slaves.
Affects:
NPCs will follow you around, but they won't fight for you unless they get hit, then they will attack the person who hit them. Beware though, if you have used the ability enslave to enslave people they will randomly commit mutiny which turns them Hostile.

Aggressive Alignments
Annoyed
Annoyed describes the Alignment when an NPC has a low affection towards you.
Affects:
NPCs will chase you out of their businesses and houses as well as refusing to talk to you. If an NPC tells you to "Leave Now" not leaving will result in them becoming Hostile.

- Entering any house, not owned by someone who is Friendly with you, will result in the owner asking you to leave as well as being them being Annoyed.
- Entering a lab not guarded by a Bouncer will also result in the owners asking you to leave.
Traits
Hostile
Hostile is the worst possible relationship that the player can have with an NPC.
Affects:
NPCs will attack you on sight and will continue to chase you until you out run them.

- Passing through any No Entry Door
Characters:
- All Characters will become Hostile if they catch you attacking them or someone they're aligned with.
- Cops will attack you on sight if they catch you breaking the law

- Not leaving when the owner is Annoyed at you

- Hostile was originally called Hateful, however this was most likely changed to sound better.
